Mizoram News: Heart-wrenching news has emerged from the northeastern state of Mizoram on Wednesday morning. Here an under construction railway bridge collapsed near Sairang, 17 laborers have died in this accident. Relief and rescue work is being carried out here by the railway administration. The accident happened at around 10 in the morning. Still 30-40 people are feared to be trapped. According to reports, this railway bridge was being constructed over the Kurung river near Sairang. This has affected the connectivity of Bairabi and Sairang areas. The height of the railway pillar that has fallen is said to be about 104 meters, which means it is 42 meters more than the height of Qutub Minar.

PM – 2 lakh to the family of the deceased

Prime Minister Modi has also expressed grief over the Mizoram Railway Bridge accident. The PMO tweeted, “My condolences to the people grieving the bridge accident in Mizoram, wishing speedy recovery to the injured. All possible help is being given to the affected people.

PM Modi has also announced Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMMRF) to the next of kin of the deceased. At the same time, those who have been injured will be given Rs 50,000.

Chief Minister expressed condolences

This under-construction bridge is about 20 kilometers away from Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram. Sabyasachi Dey, CPRO of Northeast Frontier Railway, told that the concerned officials have reached the spot immediately after the accident.

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoram Thanga has also reacted to the incident. He has told by tweeting that the under construction over bridge has collapsed in Sairang near Aizawl, due to which 17 laborers died. He expressed grief over the incident and said that he expresses his condolences to the families of the deceased and wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured.
