New guidelines for road safety for children have been issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India. According to the new guidelines, children between the age of 9 months to four years will have to follow the new rules for traveling on the bike. Failure to do so may result in you paying a fine.

This rule for a child up to 4 years old

According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Road Transport, these rules will be applicable while traveling on children's motorcycles. It will be necessary for children from 9 months to 4 years to wear a safety harness while traveling on a bike.

What should be the safety harness

The safety harness should be lightweight, waterproof and cushioned. In which the child can rest. Also, its capacity should be to bear the load up to 30kg.

Children's size helmet required

Apart from this, children will also have to wear a helmet of their size while traveling on the bike. After the implementation of this rule, companies manufacturing helmets and safety gear will benefit. The maximum speed should not exceed 40 km/hr when traveling on a bike with children.

At present, the work will be done with a bicycle helmet

BIS will issue a separate standard for children's helmets. Until then, smaller helmets, or bicycle helmets, can be used. Let us tell you that the government had brought this draft notification for the first time on 25 October 2021 to amend the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), 1989 for Road Safety.
