Indian Railway: Before the Lok Sabha elections, the government has given big relief to the railway passengers. Passenger train fares have been reduced by the Railways to pre-Covid levels. With this step of the government, passenger train fares can be reduced by 40 to 50 percent. This decision is being seen as a big relief for the passengers traveling by railways.

Fares of these trains will be affected

Today, passenger trains are known as 'Express Special' and 'MEMU/DEMU Express' trains. Now second class fares have been restored for these trains. A notification for this change has also been issued by the Railway Authorities to the Chief Booking Reservation Supervisors. After this, those MEMU trains whose number starts with zero. Their fares may be reduced by up to 50 percent. This change has come into effect across the country from February 27.

The increase was made during the time of Corona

To reduce the crowd of passengers during the Corona epidemic, the government had reduced the fares of passenger trains to that of express trains. Along with this, passenger trains were stopped in a phased manner. These were replaced by Special Express and MEMU trains. Due to this change, the minimum fare for trains was increased from Rs 10 to Rs 30. In such a situation, since Corona, passengers were paying fares for express trains instead of passenger trains. Since the end of the Corona period, there was a demand from the passengers to reduce the fares of passenger trains, which has now been fulfilled by the government.

Let us tell you, there has been no change in the fares of any train except passenger trains. The fares of all Express, Superfast and Vande Bharat trains remain the same.
