Team India / Big update on the fitness of Shreyas Iyer and Bumrah, BCCI issued a statement

Team India: Team India's star pacer Jaspreet Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are walking out of the Indian team these days. A big update has been shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday afternoon regarding the injury of both. BCCI gave an update on the fitness of both the cricketers and also gave information related to their surgery and rehabilitation. Significantly, both these players are out of IPL 2023. Now in the coming days, his playing in the WTC final between India and Australia from June 7 is also considered doubtful.

BCCI has issued a press release giving medical updates of Bumrah and Iyer. In this, it has been told by the board that, Jasprit Bumrah's lower back surgery has been done in New Zealand and it was also completed successfully. After this, he was advised to start rehabilitation after about 6 weeks of rest. Now he has started rehab management at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru from Friday. Also, regarding Shreyas Iyer, the board told that he will undergo lower back surgery next week. He will then be under the supervision of a surgeon for two weeks before starting his rehabilitation at the NCA.

Bumrah away from cricket for 7 months

Jasprit Bumrah was last seen playing for the Indian team in September 2022. After this he missed T20 World Cup 2022. Later he also did not play in Sri Lanka and New Zealand series. The team landed without Bumrah in the Border Gavaskar Trophy as well and he was ruled out of IPL 2023 as well. Now his playing in the final of the World Test Championship is doubtful.

On the other hand, talking about Shreyas Iyer, he was injured during the last Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. After this he had to be ruled out of the ODI series as well. Then the KKR captain was ruled out of the entire IPL 2023 season as well. Now it has to be seen whether he can return to the team till the final of the World Test Championship.
