The company's new CEO Elon Musk tweeted in this regard on Wednesday. He wrote, 'The last date to remove the legacy blue checkmark is 4/20.' Earlier, the date for removing the legacy checkmark was fixed from April 1. Twitter said, "On April 1, we will begin phasing out our legacy verified program and rolling back the legacy verified checkmark."

Blue check mark added to Blue subscription

The blue check mark was previously reserved for verified accounts of politicians, celebrities, journalists, and other public figures. It was added to the Blue subscription service after Musk's Twitter takeover.

Criteria for checkmark now

Your account must have a display name and profile photo.

For Blue Service, the account should be active for the last 30 days.

Account must be more than 90 days old and have a confirmed phone number.

There should not be any recent change in profile photo, display name.

There should be no indication of misleading of the account.

There should be no indication of the account being involved in spam.

The blue checkmark will appear on the account only after it is reviewed by the Twitter team. This checkmark will be given only if the Twitter team feels that all the eligibility criteria are met. Twitter may also remove checkmarks from accounts that are found to be violating the Twitter Rules.

200 off on annual web subscription

Musk wants to strengthen Twitter financially by the end of 2023. They have also modified some services like Blue subscription to increase revenue. Android and iOS mobile users in India will have to pay Rs 900 per month for Blue subscription.

Web users will get Blue subscription for Rs 650. If web user takes annual subscription then he will get discount. 6,800 instead of 7,800 will have to be paid. Annual subscription plan is not for mobile users.

Users with Blue subscription will get the facility of two-factor authentication

Since March 20, the security feature Twitter Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) has been discontinued. Now it is being given only to the subscribers with Blue subscription. To make the account more secure through 2FA, the account holder gets to use a second authentication method in addition to the password.

What will the user get in Twitter Blue Subscription?

In the subscription, users will get the ability to edit tweets, upload videos in 1080p ie HD quality, reader mode and a blue checkmark. The blue checkmark number will also be verified. It is not yet clear what will be the process of review of the account. Apart from this, priority will be given in reply, mention and search. 50% less ads will be seen than normal users and new features will also get priority.

Subscribers will also be able to change their handle, display name or profile photo, but if they do so, the blue checkmark will be temporarily removed until their account is reviewed again. Twitter also revealed that the official label for the business account will be replaced with a gold checkmark. There will be a gray checkmark for government and multilateral accounts.
