The youth, resident of Banauni village of Bar block area of Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, alleges that the needle broke in his hand while getting the vaccine due to the carelessness of the health worker. After nine days of unbearable pain, when the doctor of the district hospital performed the operation, a piece of needle came out. The doctor referred him to the medical college after the patient did not move his right hand.

Indresh Ahirwar (22) son Golu, a resident of Banini village, said that on September 9, the Kovid vaccine was administered by a health worker in the camp in the school located in the village. After getting the vaccine, fever came along with blistering in the hand. The condition did not improve even after taking treatment from a private doctor. He told that gradually the hand started going numb.

He reached the district hospital on 13th September and Senior Physician Dr. Pawan Sood treated him. When he did not get relief, when he saw the blisters pressed in his hand, he felt something pricking. On this, he got X-ray and CT scan done on September 17, in the report of which the needle was found stuck in his hand.

On this case surgeon Dr. DK Raj was referred. Surgeon Dr. DK Raj operated on 18th September and removed the needle. After the operation which lasted for about an hour, the patient got relief, but due to non-functioning of his right hand and leg, the doctor referred him to the Medical College, Jhansi.

The injection needle is removed from the patient's right hand during the operation. The patient's right hand is not moving. It has been referred to the medical college for treatment. -Dr. DK Raj, Surgeon District Hospital

The needle of the vaccine is autocut. Which does not have to be injected or removed. These cups are cut with a cutter. In such a situation, there is less chance of the needle coming out and getting into the body. Further action will be taken after confirmation in the investigation of the needle removed from the operation. -Dr. GP Shukla, Chief Medical Officer
