News Helpline . Mumbai | On Wednesday, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the Supreme Court that the Union of India has in principle accepted the recommendation by Bihar government to order a CBI inquiry into the case.

Mehta, appearing for the Centre, submitted before Justice Hrishikesh Roy that the notification for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will be issued soon, preferably by the end of the day.

The top court, in its order, gave three days to all parties to put on record their respective stands. It also noted that the Mumbai Police must submit its records of investigations so far.

Uddhav Thackeray, Nitish Kumar’s counterpart in Maharashtra, where the actor died, and the western state’s home minister Anil Deshmukh had both earlier ruled out a CBI probe.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti has reacted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) taking over the case of the actor’s death. She said it was not a coincidence that the latest development coincided with the Ram Mandir bhoomi pujan on Wednesday and thanked God for helping them in their fight for justice.

Shweta shared several screenshots of a news channel showing the Ram temple foundation stone laying ceremony with the news of a CBI probe into Sushant’s case running in the ticker below. She wrote, “This definitely Cannot be a co-incidence. As the mantras were chanted...Steps towards Justice were taken! I love you God... I know ur with us. We are one step closer to finding the truth Bhai...#justiceforsushantsinghrajput #cbienquiryforsushant #faith @sushantsinghrajput.”

Actress Ankita Lokhande is also happy about the Centre agreeing to a CBI inquiry into the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

"The moment we've waited for has finally arrived," tweeted Ankita, who was in a relationship with Sushant for almost seven years. As a caption, she wrote: "Gratitude".

Meanwhile, actor Rhea Chakraborty has been asked to appear before the Enforcement Directorate on Friday in an investigation into suspected money laundering surrounding Sushant Singh Rajput's death. The 34-year-old had died by suicide last month, the Mumbai Police had said.

The Enforcement Directorate, which investigates financial crimes, had filed a money laundering case last week over "suspicious transactions" worth Rs 15 crore in connection with the death of the Bollywood actor.

The case was filed after the agency took note of a First Information Report or FIR by Bihar Police, which was investigating the actor's death and financial transactions based on a complaint by his family.

At this point, three agencies - the Mumbai Police, the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI - have been tasked with investigating Sushant Singh Rajput's death and events leading up to it.
