Corona virus is constantly changing its form. Due to this, cases of infection have started coming up again in many places. Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya ordered to increase surveillance across the country. On Tuesday, the Health Minister held a meeting with experts regarding the new XE variant of Corona. Guidelines were also given regarding the identification and intensive monitoring of the new variant.

In the meeting, Dr. NK Aroda, Chairman of the National Technical Advisory Group, briefed about the situation in the UK, China and America, and gave information about vaccination and precautionary doses. At the same time, Dr. Sujit Kumar Singh, Director, National Center for Disease Control informed about the increase in the cases of infection in about five states including Kerala, Mizoram, Delhi, Haryana.

District wise review is necessary every day

The Health Minister has directed that in liaison with the State Governments, emphasis should be placed on following the Kovid Vigilance Rules. The district wise situation regarding vaccination should be reviewed every day. If the districts or states are seen in a situation of risk, then efforts should be intensified at the central level also. Actually, the first case of XE strain in the country has been found in Gujarat. Although a case has been found in Mumbai before this, but it has not been confirmed. The WHO has described it as 10 percent more infected than the BA.2 strain.

Omicron is promoting the new variant

Member of NITI Aayog Dr. VK Paul and Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research Dr. Balram Bhargava were also present in the meeting. During this, the Health Minister said that the Omicron variant of Corona is promoting many new variants. These include XE and other strains of the XE series. At the moment it is not causing any serious tragedy, but it is very important to be careful.

796 cases found in a day

The Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday that 796 new cases were reported in the last one day while 861 cases were registered on Monday. At the same time, 19 people died due to corona. In the last one day, 946 patients have also been discharged. Due to this, the number of active patients has now come down to 10,889, which is the lowest in the situation since the year 2020. The ministry said that 19 people have died due to infection in the last one day. So far 5,21,710 people have died due to corona in the country.
