After this, instead of BJP's Mumbai unit chief Ashish Shelar, he called him Mumbai Congress President, after which Fadnavis and other officials stopped him. Let us tell you that former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan joined BJP on Tuesday. Earlier on Monday, Chavan had resigned from the primary membership of Congress. Ashok Chavan was inducted into the BJP at the party office in Mumbai in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP state unit president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, party Mumbai unit chief Ashish Shelar and cabinet minister Girish Mahajan. Before joining BJP, Chavan said, "Today is the beginning of a new political career in my life." When Chavan was asked whether he had received any call from senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, he replied: No one replied.
