Lok Sabha Elections: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has announced to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Hajipur seat of Bihar. He announced this after the party's parliamentary board meeting ended on Wednesday. Chirag said, I will contest the Lok Sabha elections as an NDA candidate from Hajipur.

Let us tell you that Pashupati Paras is the uncle of current Hajipur MP Chirag Paswan. Pashupati was also a Union Minister. Pashupati was angry after the seat distribution in NDA. He decided to step aside from the Modi cabinet on Tuesday. Pashupati was planning to contest elections from Hajipur. But that seat did not come to his account. Not only this, he did not get even a single seat for the elections in the seat distribution in Bihar. There is talk that Pashupati is in touch with India Alliance and he can contest elections from Hajipur.

Chirag's statement on Pashupati Paras

On the other hand, on Pashupati Paras' statement of contesting elections from Hajipur, Chirag Paswan said that he (Pashupati) has always said that he will be with the Prime Minister. In such a situation, now they have to decide whether they will support NDA in its goal of getting 400 seats or create obstacles.

Chirag said, I am ready for every challenge. I don't have any difficulty anywhere. But he (Pashupati Paras) has said that we will remain with the Prime Minister till our death. So will he become a hindrance in the target of crossing 400? Chirag Paswan said, I am thankful to the party's parliamentary board that they have authorized me to take all decisions related to the Lok Sabha elections. The names of all five candidates will be announced in the next two to four days.

Chirag Paswan further said, those who had left the party or family, it is up to them to decide to come back. Chirag said that Hajipur has been the workplace of my leader, my father. Now I have to fulfill his dreams. Let us tell you that Hajipur seat has been a high profile seat of Bihar. Chirag's father Ram Vilas Paswan was a Lok Sabha MP from here 9 times. In 2019, Pashupati became MP by contesting elections from here.

Why was Pashupati Paras angry?

Pashupati Paras is also unhappy with the fact that despite the support of five MPs in the current Modi government and being a cabinet minister himself, neither he nor the Indian public was invited to a single meeting regarding the distribution of NDA seats in Bihar. Some big leader of the party tried to contact him.

However, only after the meeting between Chirag Paswan and BJP President JP Nadda on March 13, such news started coming that under the 2019 formula, all the seats which were in the quota of Lok Janshakti Party (earlier name) would be given to Chirag Paswan's party LJP (Ram Vilas ) will be given only, while Pashupati Paras's Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party will not be included in the alliance.

Despite not getting attention in NDA, Pashupati Paras is currently expressing his views thoughtfully about the BJP leadership and the Prime Minister, whereas an aggressive stance has been taken by his party. RLJP national spokesperson Shravan Aggarwal said that Pashupati Paras will contest from Hajipur Lok Sabha seat in any case. For this, every possible option will be worked out.

Hajipur has been the stronghold of Paswan family

Hajipur Lok Sabha seat is considered the traditional seat of Ram Vilas Paswan. Ram Vilas Paswan won elections from here for the first time in 1977 and then in 1980 with record votes. Barring the 1984 and 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Ram Vilas Paswan never lost an election from this seat.

After Ram Vilas Paswan went to Rajya Sabha, his younger brother Pashupati Paras won the election from Hajipur in 2019, but in June 2021, a dispute started between Pashupati Paras and Chirag Paswan over the political legacy of Ram Vilas Paswan. Ultimately, Pashupati Paras formed a separate faction of LJP with four MPs of the party and Chirag Paswan was left alone in the party.
