IPL Live / Delhi Capitals beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 18 runs

In the 16th match of the 13th season of IPL, Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 18 runs. In the match played in Sharjah, Delhi lost the toss and batted first and gave the highest target of 229 runs of this season. In response, KKR could only manage 210 runs after losing 8 wickets. This is KKR's second defeat. With this win, Delhi reached the top of the points table.


For Kolkata, Nitish Rana scored 58, Eoin Morgan 44, Rahul Tripathi 36 and Shubman Gill scored 28 runs. On the other hand, Enrich Nortje took 3 and Harshal Patel took 2 wickets from Delhi. This is Harshal's first match this season.


Shifty Iyer and Prithvi Shaw's Fifty

Delhi scored 228 for 4 wickets. Captain Shreyas Iyer scored 88 for the team, Prithvi Shaw scored 66 and Rishabh Pant scored 38 runs. In the IPL, Prithvi placed sixth and Shreyas placed 14th. There was a 73-run partnership for the second wicket between the two. Andre Russell took 2 wickets for Kolkata, while Varun Chakraborty and Kamlesh Nagerkoti got 1-1 wickets.


Most runs scored in the power play for the first time in a season

Earlier, there was a 56-run opening partnership between Prithvi and Shikhar Dhawan. Delhi scored 57 runs losing 1 wicket, the 5th highest score in the power play this season. Earlier, Rajasthan Royals had the highest score of 69 runs against Kings XI Punjab and then 60 runs against Rajasthan in the same match.


One change in KKR and two changes in Delhi team


A change has been made in the Kolkata team. Rahul Tripathi was given the chance to replace spinner Kuldeep Yadav. At the same time, captain Shreyas Iyer made two changes in the Delhi team. Ishant Sharma and Akshar Patel were dropped, replacing Ravichandran Ashwin and Harshal Patel in the playing eleven. Ashwin has emerged from injury recently.
