OPS has been restored by the governments of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Jharkhand. But it was flatly refused to be implemented by the Central Government in the last days. Despite this, announcements are being made by some state governments to implement the old pension. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said after the Centre's statement that he had spoken to the Finance Secretary regarding the old pension. Government will not give pension according to the old scheme

Now Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has made a big statement on old pension. He said, 'The government will not give pension according to the old pension scheme. If the old pension scheme is implemented, it will increase the burden of Rs 1,10,000 crore and this will bankrupt the state. The old pension scheme will not be applicable. Responding to a question in the state assembly, Fadnavis said that the old pension scheme was discontinued in 2005.

Direct reference to Vilasrao Deshmukh

Not only this, Fadnavis also praised the then Congress-Nationalist Congress Party government for taking the decision to discontinue the old pension scheme in the interest of the state. Let us tell you that at that time Vilasrao Deshmukh was the Chief Minister of the state from 1 November 2004 to 5 December 2008. It is believed that his reference was directly towards Vilasrao Deshmukh.

'Sri Lanka will be like situation in 2034'

Earlier, Minister of State for Finance Bhagwant Karad and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi had also given a big statement regarding the old pension scheme. Sushil Modi had said that the states which are announcing old pension today will not face any problem but in 2034 their condition will be like Sri Lanka. He had also said that it would be a 'big crime' to put a burden on the future generation by implementing Punani pension.

Let us tell you that under the old pension scheme, 50 percent of the last salary was given to the employee as pension. Maharashtra Finance Minister Fadnavis said, 'The government will not give pension as per the old scheme. If the old pension scheme is implemented, it will increase the burden of Rs 1,10,000 crore and this will bankrupt the state. The old pension scheme will not be applicable.
