New Delhi: Cyclone 'Asani', which picked up in the Bay of Bengal, is moving in a northwest direction, but its speed has now decreased. The Indian Meteorological Department has said in its latest update that due to the cyclone, there is a possibility of heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu and Kerala till May 10-13. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert in these states. Earlier, the IMD had said in its forecast that there is a possibility of rain in the coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal from May 9 to 12 and had issued a yellow alert.

According to Umashankar Das, Senior Scientist of IMD Bhubaneswar Center, this cyclone will weaken in the next 48 hours, but even then there are chances of heavy rains in many states. Strong winds will accompany the rain. According to the tweet made by the Indian Meteorological Department, in the next three days in West Bengal, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. There is a chance of rain. Private weather agency Skymet has said that Cyclone 'Asani' is moving from northwestwards, due to which there will be heavy changes in the weather of North Tamil Nadu and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

According to Skymet, during the next 24 hours Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Coastal Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Heavy rain is expected in Interior Odisha, Kerala, South Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu. Each time cyclones are named by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). The cyclone 'Asani' is named by Sri Lanka, a word from Sinhalese language, which means anger or passion or anger.

At the same time, the outbreak of heat and heat will continue in North and Central India. Heatwave conditions will prevail over Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra. There may be some effect of Cyclone Asani in the Bay of Bengal in Bihar and Jharkhand and there may be rain with strong thunderstorms in some areas. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will take a turn from May 11 and there may be a possibility of drizzle in some districts of Uttar Pradesh.
