Cricket | Mahendra Singh Dhoni's name will definitely be there in not only India but whenever there is talk of a great wicketkeeper and captain in the whole world. Dhoni has made many unsurpassed achievements with his speed behind the wicket and with the bat. Dhoni is the only player to have won all three ICC titles as captain. Former India wicketkeeper and chief selector Kiran More has shared a funny anecdote about Dhoni. He has said that he had to persuade Sourav Ganguly for 10 days to include Dhoni in the team as a wicketkeeper.Talking on a YouTube channel 'The Curtly and Karishma Show', he said that, 'At that time the format was changing, so we needed a power hitter batsman. There was a need for a player who could add 40 to 50 runs for the team while batting at number six-seven. Rahul Dravid played 75 ODIs as a wicket-keeper batsman. He also played the 2003 World Cup in the same role. So we were looking for a wicketkeeper because we wanted to ease his burden. He said that, 'A friend of mine caught sight of Dhoni, after which I went to watch his game. At that time I had caught the flight just to watch Dhoni's game. Here Dhoni's entire team scored 170 runs, in which he alone had 130 runs. Here he scored runs against almost all bowlers. That's why we wanted Dhoni to do the wicketkeeping in the final match. More explains that, 'Deep Dasgupta was playing the role of wicketkeeping from East Zone at that time. In such a situation, he had to persuade Ganguly and Deep Dasgupta for 10 days to allow Dhoni to keep wicket in his place.
