India / Fake Xiaomi products worth ₹13 lakh seized in Delhi's Gaffar Market

Xiaomi has announced that Delhi Police has seized counterfeit Xiaomi products estimated to be worth Rs 13 lakh. Delhi Police has seized the counterfeit products from the four suppliers in Gaffar Market, New Delhi. 

The company has revealed that a complaint was filed with the local police, and raids were conducted in Gaffar Market on November 15, 2019. Police officers of Central District Karol Bagh Police Station along with the representatives of the company conducted the raid and seized over 2000+ fake Xiaomi products from four shop owners. The suppliers were arrested for allegedly selling counterfeit Xiaomi products.

The company has revealed the counterfeit products include a range of mobile accessories out of which some were not even launched in India. The list includes  Mi Powerbanks, Mi Neckbands, Mi Travel Adaptor with Cable, Mi Earphone Basic with Mic, Mi Wireless Headsets, Redmi Air Dots, Mi 2-in-1 USB Cable and more. 

The police found out upon interrogation that the four suppliers have been managing this business for years now. These counterfeit products were allegedly sold in retail and wholesale to the customers from their retail shops: Galaxy Mobile Accessories, BCM Plaza, Shop No. 14 - Sega Market, Shop No. 2 - Lotus Plaza.

The counterfeit products not only a threat to the companies but also to the users. The fake products are made with cheap quality material and they are not safe to use. It is always advisable to buy products from authorized stores of the brand and partner outlets. Furthermore, one should also cross-check with the details like security codes, packaging and quality of retail boxes, brand’s logo and more.
