A massive fire broke out in a warehouse of furniture and junk in Deepak Vihar near Labor Chowk in Khoda late on Sunday night. The flames also reached two nearby houses. Goods of warehouses and houses were burnt in the fire. People left the house in panic and ran outside. Many people also fainted from the smoke.

Meanwhile, the Khoda road connecting Noida-Ghaziabad was blocked due to the gathering of thousands of people. More than 20 fire tenders brought the fire under control after a hard effort of about one and a half hours. On receiving the information, the police of Ghaziabad and Noida reached the spot and tried to control the situation. The fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit.

According to the police, flames suddenly started appearing at around 11:15 pm in the warehouse of Arif Furniture House in Deepak Vihar of Khoda Colony. Within no time the fire had become so severe that people started running away after closing the shops. Some shopkeepers started taking out the goods. Flames were also touching several buildings. Due to this people living in the houses adjacent to the warehouse came out.

The fire that started from the furniture warehouse reached Akhlaq's junk warehouse immediately. Thousands of people gathered around seeing the fire. Arif told that he had got his eyesight that suddenly the sound of screaming started coming. When I opened my eyes, I saw people running out of the rooms. Coming on the road, he saw flames rising in the furniture warehouse behind the house.

At the same time, Farooq told that the furniture had come outside the warehouse to have food in the hotel, as soon as the fire started, the hotel operator immediately took everyone out and closed the shutter. After a while, a stampede broke out. If the fire broke out in the buildings adjacent to the warehouse, it would have been difficult for fire engines to reach the narrow streets.

Smoldering fire till late night

Firefighters brought the fire under control after an hour-and-a-half effort, but the fire continued to smolder in the furniture warehouse till late in the night. There were also tires in the junk warehouse, which took a long time to extinguish the fire. Till the time of writing the news, fire tenders were continuing to arrive. However, things had returned to normal.

Noida took over the command

On the information of the fire, fire brigade of Noida first reached the spot. There is a fire station of Sector-58 near Khoda. The fire tenders were dispatched from here. The work of extinguishing the fire was going on till the fire tenders arrived from Ghaziabad.
