IND vs SA / First day's play ended - India made 208/8; Rahul's fifty

IND vs SA: The first test between India and South Africa is being held in Centurion. The first day's play on Tuesday was ended early due to rain. By the end of the game, India had scored 208 runs for 8 wickets. Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took 5 wickets for South Africa. Wicketkeeper KL Rahul (70 runs) and Mohammed Siraj (0 runs) returned not out from Team India. Both will lead India's first innings on the second day. The second day's play will start at 1 pm Indian time on Wednesday.

Debutant Nandre Berger gets 2 successes

South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl first at the SuperSport Park Stadium. The team allowed India to score 208 runs even after taking 3 wickets for 24 runs. Apart from Rabada, Nandre Berger took 2 wickets and Marco Jansson took one wicket from South Africa.

Apart from Rahul, from India, Virat Kohli scored 38, Shreyas Iyer scored 31, Shardul Thakur scored 24 and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 17 runs. The rest of the batsmen could not even touch the score of 10 runs.

Rahul completed his fifty by hitting a six.

India's wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul scored a half-century on 80 balls. He came to the crease after the fall of Shreyas Iyer's wicket in the second session. Virat and Ashwin were out in front of him.

Rahul then made a partnership of 43 runs with Shardul. He also remained with Bumrah. He also completed his fifty in the 52nd over by hitting a four and a six on consecutive balls of Nandre Berger.

Session-2: Named after Rabada and South Africa

By the end of the first session, India had scored 91 runs for 3 wickets. As soon as the second session started, the team lost 3 wickets in scoring 29 runs. Kagiso Rabada took all three wickets. Shardul Thakur and KL Rahul were building a partnership after getting set. But Rabada also dismissed Shardul and broke the 43-run partnership between the two.

By the end of the second session, India had scored 176 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. Rabada took 4 wickets in the session and completed his 5 wickets in the test and made the second session in the name of South Africa. In this session, Team India scored 85 runs after losing 4 wickets in 24 overs.

Rabada took 5-wickets for the 14th time

In the first session, India had lost only 3 wickets on the score of 91 runs. But as soon as the second session started, the team's batting faltered again. Kagiso Rabada bowled Shreyas Iyer in the very first over of this session. He then also dismissed Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur in the same session.

Rabada gave the first success to South Africa by sending captain Rohit Sharma to the pavilion in the first session. Rabada has taken 5 wickets in the first innings, he has taken 5 wickets in the innings for the 14th time in his Test career. He got 5 wickets for the first time against India in any format. Rabada has already taken 500 wickets in all three formats combined.

Virat and Shreyas out within 5 overs

Shreyas Iyer, who came to bat at number 5 for India, got life in the 13th over itself. Shreyas took advantage of this opportunity and took the team's score beyond 50 runs. He made a fifty partnership with Kohli till the end of the first session and did not allow the team to lose any wicket.

Shreyas was out in the very first over of the second session. He was bowled by Rabada on the last ball of the 27th over. Shreyas was out after scoring 31 runs and his partnership of 68 runs with Virat was broken. Rabada also got Kohli caught behind in the second session. Kohli scored 38 runs on 64 balls. Shreyas was out in the 27th over and Kohli was out in the 31st over, thus India lost the wickets of both the set batsmen within 5 overs.

Session-1: India remained victorious even after falling 3 wickets

India got off to a bad start in the first Test, which was delayed by half an hour due to rain. The team lost 3 wickets within 24 runs. Captain Rohit returned to the pavilion after scoring only 5 runs, Yashasvi 17 and Shubman 2 runs. Nandre Berger took 2 wickets and Kagiso Rabada took one wicket.

After 3 wickets fell in the 12th over itself, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer took over the innings. After regaining control, both of them played shots openly on bad balls. Both of them took India's score beyond 50 runs and also made a fifty partnership among themselves.

After the end of session 1, India's score was 91 runs at the loss of 3 wickets. India scored at a run rate of 3.50 in 26 overs. India remained ahead of South Africa in session 1 due to scoring rate and recovery.

Top order flop

India's Shubhman Gill 2 and Yashasvi Jaiswal were caught behind after scoring 17 runs, both of whom were sent to the pavilion by debutant Nandre Berger. Captain Rohit Sharma was out after scoring 5 runs, he was caught out by Kagiso Rabada.

Shreyas and Kohli got one life each

After losing 3 wickets for 24 runs, Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli took over India's innings. Both of them got one life each in the initial overs.

On the fourth ball of the 13th over, Shreyas played a shot towards point, here Marco Janson missed his catch. On the third ball of the 14th over, Virat played a shot towards square leg, here Tony De Georgi missed his catch.

Rohit got out while playing pull on short ball

Captain Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal came to open for India. Both of them batted carefully for the first 4 overs. Kagiso Rabada bowled the last ball of the 5th over with a short pitch, Rohit was surprised by the bouncer and played a pull shot. The ball did not hit his bat properly and he was caught at long leg position. Rohit scored 5 runs on 14 balls.
