Cricket | Team India was announced on Friday for the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand and the five-Test series against England. Earlier it was expected that the BCCI would announce a 30-member team for the four-month long tour of India but the BCCI selected only the 20-member squad for the tour. It was expected that the big contingent of India would include Rahul Chahar, Devdutt Padikkal, Priyank Panchal and KS Bharat.

The BCCI included Avesh Khan, the famous Krishna, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Arjan Nagavaswala as stand-bys. Combining these four, a total of 24 members are going on the tour of England. Former Chief Selector of India MSK Prasad spoke about the future of Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal scored more than 400 runs in IPL 2020. Padikkal became the second player to score 400 runs in his first season of IPL. In IPL 2021, Padikkal scored his maiden century in the IPL against Rajasthan Royals. The former chief selector feels that this left-handed batsman can play for India going forward. But he will take some time to play in long form.

While interviewing SportsKeed, Padikkal said that it would take some time for Padikkal to come in long format. He is definitely the boy of the future. There are no two opinions about this. But if you are watching him in a long format, then it will probably take another year. Prasad, who has played 6 Test matches and 17 ODIs for India, feels that apart from Devdutt Padikkal, fast bowlers Krishna and Ishaan Porel also have a bright future. There are also expectations from Avesh Khan, who took 14 wickets in 8 matches, playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021.
