Cyrus Mistry Death: Former Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a road accident in Palghar, Mumbai. Palghar SP has confirmed his death in the accident. He was born on 4 July 1968 in an Irish business family of Indian origin.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened around 3 pm and during that time a woman was driving his car. Two people sitting in the car died in this accident. One of them is Cyrus. The identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained. The other two people sitting in the car are alive.

What did the SP of the district say on the accident?

The SP of the district said that former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a road accident in Charoti, Palghar on Sunday. The accident happened when his Mercedes was returning from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. The accident happened on the bridge over the Surya river. At the same time, two other people in the car are admitted in the hospital.

How did the accident happen?

According to eyewitnesses, there was a divider on the first bridge of the river, the car was at a very high speed and suddenly it uncontrollably collided with the divider and Cyrus, who was sitting in the car, died. His father Pallonji Mistry passed away earlier this year.

After the death of Cyrus, his family is now survived by his mother Perrin Dubas, his two sisters Laila Mistry and Alu Mistry. He was the sixth chairman of the Tata Group. In December 2012, Ratan Tata made him the chairman of the Tata Group. He was removed from his post in 2016.

Due to his sudden removal from the post, he had also moved the court and he went to the National Company Law Tribunal where the decision came in his favor. However, after this decision, Ratan Tata had approached the Supreme Court.

6th Chairman of Tata Group

Cyrus Pallonji Mistry was born on 4 July 1968. He was the younger son of Pallonji Mistry, the head of Shapoorji Pallonji Group. He did his early studies from the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and then later went to London to study civil engineering. He was the sixth chairman of the Tata Group. Let us inform that after the resignation of Ratan Tata in 2012, Cyrus Mistry was given the post of chairman of Tata Sons.

He was the second person who was given the command of this group despite not having Tata in his surname. However, Cyrus Mistry was removed from the post of Tata Sons chairman in October 2016 following differences with Ratan Tata. In December 2019, the Company Law Tribunal reinstated Mistry as the group's executive chairman. But before that in February 2017, he was removed from the post of director on the board of Tata Sons.

Father also died in the same year

Cyrus Mistry's father's name is Pallonji Mistry. Pallonji Mistry also passed away on June 28 this year. Mistry studied at the Cathedral and the John Connon School in Mumbai. He graduated from Imperial College, London with a BS in Civil Engineering. Apart from this, he also did a master's degree in science in management from London Business School. Cyrus Mistry has two children, Firoz Mistry and Jahan Mistry.

What is the Tata-Mistry dispute?

Let us tell you that Shapoorji Pallonji Group holds 18.37% stake in Tata Sons. Cyrus Mistry was made the chairman of Tata Sons in 2012 in place of Ratan Tata, although in 2016 when he was suddenly removed from the post, Cyrus Mistry had a tussle with the Tata group. After this, the Tata group had offered itself to buy the SP Group's stake in Tata Sons, to which the Mistry family did not agree. After this the matter reached the court and the decision came in favor of Tata.

The Supreme Court had in May dismissed a petition by the Shapoorji Pallonji (SP) Group, seeking a review of the 2021 verdict, which included the removal of Cyrus Mistry as the executive chairman of Tata Sons of the Tata group. The decision of the Tata group was upheld.

Studied Engineering and Management from London

Pallonji Group's business spans from clothing to real estate, hospitality and business automation.
