Mumbai / Friend's father raped 8-year-old girl, police arrested him in 12 hours

Mumbai: A habitual offender who sexually assaulted and assaulted young children and minors has been arrested by the police in South Mumbai. He is accused of raping an 8-year-old girl, after which the police of Agripada area has taken this action. The accused Ravindra Ghadge, who lives in the Dhobi Ghat area near Mahalaxmi, has a criminal record of sexual abuse against minors, and shop burglary. Ghadge knew the girl who was raped as the victim and her daughter used to play together regularly.

People came to know about the incident when the girl started crying and told that she had pain in her stomach. A team was formed under the leadership of senior PI Yogendra Pache and PI Yogesh Tande which included PSI Tekawade, HC Malik and Khanvilkar, and Borse to arrest the 38-year-old accused.

A police officer said on condition of anonymity that, "The accused is unemployed and addicted to drugs, he knew the victim, lived around her and his daughter was also friend of the victim.

The girl's grandmother called the Nirbhaya Pathak squad to the spot and helped identify and catch Ghadge. The accused was arrested from Gate No 4 of Dhobi Ghat within just twelve hours, the officer said.

We have confiscated his clothes for examination and his medical report is awaited, the police officer said. He is a habitual offender and his name has also cropped up in other cases at Agripada Police Station.

Police have registered a case in this case under sections 376AB and 509 of the IPC and sections 4, 5, 6, 10 and 12 of the POCSO Act.
