Pune: The death toll in a massive fire that broke out at a chemical manufacturing factory in Pune, Maharashtra has now reached 17. Among them, 15 are also women. The factory fire has now been brought under control and at present the search operation is going on along with cooling inside. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in this incident. 50 thousand assistance has been said for the injured.

PMRDA Pune chief Potphode said, "The fire started when the plastic packing work was going on. The smoke was so high that the women employees could not find any way to escape. We have recovered 17 bodies, of which 15 are women and two are men. The cooling and search operation is on."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled this incident of fierce fire. "Saddened by the loss of lives due to fire at a factory in Pune in Maharashtra. Condolences to the families in grief," he tweeted.

The PMO tweeted, "The Prime Minister has announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh each from the PM National Relief Fund for the families of those who died in the fire in the industrial unit of Pune, Maharashtra. Those who have been injured will be given compensation. 50 thousand rupees will be given.

A plume of smoke was visible from afar

Being a chemical factory, the fire brigade workers had to struggle a lot to control this fire. A huge plume of smoke was visible from afar. This is the chemical factory of SVS Acua Technologies. After the fire, different types of gas have spread, due to which it was difficult to extinguish the fire. Company officials said that it manufactures, supplies and exports air, water and surface treatment chemicals.
