Govardhan Puja is on the next day of Diwali i.e. on 5th November. Govardhan is also known as Annakoot, Padwa or Pratipada. On the day of Govardhan, Govardhan is made from cow dung in the courtyard, terrace or outside of the house.

On this day, food is offered to Govardhan Baba by making annakoot by mixing 51 vegetables. Like Diwali, this festival is also celebrated with great pomp. Know why Govardhan Puja is done and what is its importance-

Why is Govardhan Puja performed?

According to religious beliefs, in Tretayuga, Lord Indra, angry with the Brijwasis, caused torrential rains. At that time, Lord Krishna saved the people of Brij by lifting the Govardhan mountain on the little finger. Lord Krishna had given protection to everyone under the mountain. Since then Lord Krishna is worshiped as Govardhan.

Govardhan Puja 2021 Shubh Muhurta-

According to the Hindu calendar, Pratipada tithi will start at 2:44 pm on 5th November and end at 11.14 am the next day. The auspicious time of Govardhan Puja is from 7.59 am to 10.47 am.

Govardhan Puja Method-

1. First massage the body with oil.

2. After that take bath.

3. Make Govardhan Parvat from cow dung at the main entrance of the house.

4. Keep the idol of Lord Krishna near the mountain.

5. Now offer prayers according to the law.
