GST collection crosses Rs 1.60 lakh crore for the 5th time

While giving information on Friday, Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra said that there has been an increase of 11 percent in GST revenue for August 2023. This time this figure has again reached more than Rs 1.60 lakh crore. In fact, this is the fifth time that the country's GST collection has crossed Rs 1.60 lakh crore. This was seen because there has been a decline in GST evasion in the country. GST collection in August 2022 was Rs 1,43,612 crore. Data from April to July

Earlier in July, the central and state governments saw a collection of Rs 1.65 lakh crore in GST revenue, which was 11 per cent higher than the year-ago period. The GST collection in the month of June was Rs 1,61,497 crore, while in the month of May this figure came to Rs 1,57,090 crore. In the month of April, the GST collection had reached a record level. According to statistics, the GST collection in the month of April was Rs 1.87 lakh crore.

In big states of the country

Talking about the big states of the country, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have generated GST revenue in double digits. The country's capital Delhi has seen an increase of 25 percent in the GST collection in the month of July and has touched a figure of Rs 5405 crore. On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh, which is one of the largest states in the country, has seen an increase of 24 percent in GST collection and a collection of Rs 8802 crore was done.
