Gujarat Titans defeated Chennai Super Kings by 7 wickets in IPL 2022 on Sunday, thanks to Wriddhiman Saha's third half century after a brilliant performance by the bowlers. With this win, GT's team has confirmed its entry in the play-offs as the top-2 team.

Batting first after winning the toss, Chennai Super Kings scored 133 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Opener Rituraj Gaikwad played the highest innings of 53 runs. N Jagadeesan scored an unbeaten 39. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 7 runs in 10 balls. Shami took 2 wickets for Gujarat. In reply, Gujarat achieved the target in 19.1 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Saha scored the most unbeaten runs. Mathisa Parithana, being called Sri Lanka's junior Lasith Malinga, took 2 wickets.

Chennai's weak start in the second consecutive match

Chennai did not start well in the second match in a row. Opener Devon Conway flopped again. He gave wicket to Mohammed Shami after scoring 5 runs in 9 balls. Gaikwad and Moeen Ali then added 57 runs in the second wicket partnership. Left arm spinner R Sai Kishore got Moin caught by Rashid Khan.

After this, Gaikwad and N Jagadeesan added 48 runs in the third wicket partnership. The pair, which is becoming dangerous for GT, was separated by Rashid Khan. He got Gaikwad caught by Matthew Wade. The Chennai opener faced 49 balls in his innings and hit 4 fours and 1 six.

Brilliant bowling from Shami

Mohammed Shami did the best performance among the bowlers of Gujarat. He took two wickets in 4 overs spending just 19 runs. Devon Conway (5) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (7) became victims of Shami. Shami conceded just 6 runs in the last over of the innings.
