Cricket's top- The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the names of the winning players of the ICC Player of the Month Awards for September 2022. Players from India and Pakistan have won ICC Men's and Women's Awards. Indian women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has managed to win this award in the women's category while Pakistan's wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan has managed to win this award in the men's category.

The players who were shortlisted for the women's cricket award included Bangladesh's Nigar Sultana, who performed brilliantly in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in the United Arab Emirates, and Indian captains Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana. But Harmanpreet won this award leaving Sultan and Mandhana behind.

The month of September was memorable for Harmanpreet. Under his leadership, India made a 3-0 clean sweep in the ODI series against England. India thus won the first series in ODIs in England since 1999. He scored 221 runs in three matches. He scored an unbeaten 74 in the first ODI, followed by 143 off 111 balls in the second ODI.

The ICC Men's Player of the Month nominees also included Australia's Cameron Green and India's Axar Patel. But Rizwan was successful in winning this award for the first time after a brilliant performance with the bat. Rizwan scored more than 300 runs in the 7-match T20I series against England. He scored over 500 international runs last month as he also played in the Asia Cup.

Rizwan said, “Such achievements boost your spirits. I am happy with my performance and want to continue the momentum in Australia as well. I would like to dedicate this award to the people of Pakistan who are affected by floods and climate change.
