Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Bengal on Friday. During this, he tried to instill enthusiasm among the party workers by holding a meeting with the Bengal BJP unit. He ruled out the possibility of President's rule in the state at the Bengal BJP meeting on Friday, saying it would be unfair to dismiss an elected government with a huge mandate.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked the party's Bengal unit not to despair, but instead to fight politically. Before making his remarks, a team of BJP lawyers recently met the President and requested for central rule in the state, which was accused of sabotaging law and order.

He cited political killings, gang rape and other forms of violence to substantiate the demand. Shah asked BJP workers in the state not to rely on the CBI probe to corner Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress. He said the CBI was doing its job, but Bengal BJP office-bearers and elected representatives should fight the Trinamool at the political level. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday asked the Bengal BJP to take the political fight against the Trinamool Congress seriously.

Amit Shah said that no one from outside can carry out the fight. You need to fight your own battle". He recalled the tough days when BJP was in opposition in Gujarat. He also gave the Bengal unit a run down for the lack of campaigns to highlight central projects in Bengal and the delivery of the Centre's policies to the people.

During the meeting he advised the party functionaries to think positively as to how the BJP took its tally from 3 to 77 in the 2021 Bengal Assembly elections. He reiterated what he had said after addressing a party rally in New Jalpaiguri on Thursday that there was no reason to be disheartened about the BJP's future in Bengal.
