WFI New President: There were tears in the eyes, the tongue was stuttering, there was difficulty in speaking each word, then suddenly I placed my shoes on the table and said, I am retiring from wrestling. Indian female wrestler Sakshi Malik has said goodbye to wrestling. The big thing is that Sakshi did not leave the sport happily, rather she said goodbye to wrestling, making big allegations of injustice. The daughter who gave a new name to India in the world of women's wrestling, the daughter who won a medal in women's wrestling for the first time in the Olympics, why did she have to take this decision? Sakshi Malik herself answered this question.

Sakshi's retirement

The reason for Sakshi Malik's retirement is the new Chief of Wrestling Federation of India. On Wednesday, Sanjay Singh was elected the new president of the Indian Wrestling Association, who is considered close to Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. Just after the results of this election, the country's leading wrestlers held a press conference and during this, Sakshi Malik became emotional and announced her retirement. Sakshi tearfully said, we slept on the road for 40 days, people from many parts of the country came to support her, but if Brij Bhushan's business partner and close friend is elected the president of the wrestling association, then she will retire from wrestling.

After all, what is the dispute?

Sakshi Malik and her fellow wrestlers sat on a dharna on the streets in Delhi for a month. The demand was to remove former WFI Chief Brij Bhushan from his post, register a case against him and arrest him. It was also demanded that Brij Bhushan's close friends or relatives should not be allowed to participate in the wrestling federation elections. Brij Bhushan was accused of sexual exploitation of female wrestlers and threatening to kill them, but till now he has not been found guilty in any case.

Sakshi is a very special wrestler

Let us tell you that Sakshi Malik is a very special wrestler for the country. Because Sakshi is the player who won India's first Olympic medal in women's wrestling. Sakshi had won the country a bronze medal in the Rio Olympics in 2016. Sakshi had won this medal in a very miraculous manner. Sakshi was trailing 5-0 in the repechage but she made an amazing comeback and won the match 7-5. After winning this medal, he was showered with rewards. Not only this, the Government of India also honored Sakshi with the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Award, but ironically, today this Indian female wrestler had to retire crying.

It was not easy for Sakshi to become a wrestler

Sakshi Malik's Olympic medal is also special because she did not just defeat her opponent to get this medal. In fact, he also fought with the society to achieve this medal. Born in Mokhara village of Rohtak, when Sakshi started wrestling, the entire village was against her but despite this she made a name for herself in this sport. Sakshi's coach Ishwar Singh Dahiya fought with the entire village for his student and also continued her training. Sakshi learned tricks in the arena with the boys and later on, this quality helped her win the Olympic medal.

Belonging to a poor family

Sakshi Malik belonged to a poor family. His father was a DTC bus conductor. His mother used to work in Anganwadi. If a family is short of money but despite this its daughter wins the country an Olympic medal in wrestling, then imagine how big a thing it is.

Sakshi's Achievements

Apart from winning bronze in the Olympics, Sakshi Malik won silver in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, won a bronze medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and won gold in the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Apart from this, he also won 4 medals in the Asian Championships. But after all these achievements, the way Sakshi's career has ended is really very sad.
