The ruckus that has been going on in the Indian Wrestling Association for some time has not ended completely yet. Recently, Indian Wrestling Association elections were held, in which Sanjay Singh was elected president. But now the Government of India has taken a big decision and suspended the new body of the Indian Wrestling Association, the government says that these elections are against the rules and appear to be under the influence of the old body.

In the order issued by the Sports Ministry, it has been said that the competitions announced by the new body are completely against the rules. Such decisions are taken by the Executive Committee, before which the agenda is required to be placed for consideration.

What did the Sports Ministry say?

The government says that the articles of the WFI constitution mandate the calling of meetings of the General Council and Executive Committee of the Federation. It appears that the Secretary General did not attend the said EC meeting, which was held without any notice or quorum. The newly elected body is under the complete control of the former officials in complete disregard of the Sports Code.

Not only this, the Sports Ministry in its statement also raised questions on former WFI President Brij Bhushan Singh. He said that the business of the federation is being run from the premises controlled by the former office-bearers. Which is also the alleged complex in which players have been accused of sexual harassment and the court is currently hearing the case.

Sanjay Singh had won the election

Let us tell you that the Wrestling Federation of India has been in controversies for the last one year. Many big women wrestlers had accused former WFI President Brij Bhushan Singh of sexual harassment, after which the uproar started. Now, just a few days ago, elections were held in the wrestling association, in which Sanjay Singh was elected as the president. Sanjay Singh had been close to former president Brij Bhushan Singh, which means, in a way, WFI was still in the possession of the old body. Sanjay Singh won this election with a score of 40-7 and defeated Anita Singh Sheoran.
