The meeting between President Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Modi took place on 31 August in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, on the sidelines of the SCO Summit. This meeting was particularly significant as it occurred against the backdrop of intense conflict in West Asia, while during the discussion, the Iranian President highlighted India's influential regional and global position, noting its strong relations with various nations. He made a direct appeal to PM Modi, requesting that India use its diplomatic contacts to help transition the relevant parties from a state of war and bloodshed toward a path of dialogue and agreement.

Iran's Stance on Dialogue and Criticism of the US

President Pezeshkian explicitly stated that Iran believes current problems should be resolved through communication and cooperation. He took the opportunity to criticize the United States, accusing it of using war, insecurity, and force to impose its will rather than utilizing diplomatic mechanisms. On top of that, the Iranian President raised concerns about the American military-industrial complex. He informed PM Modi that certain groups within the US are interested in prolonging conflicts to serve their own financial interests, suggesting that the continuation of war provides them with ongoing benefits.
