Central Government: A settlement has been reached between the government and transporters regarding the new law in hit and run case. The government asked the truck drivers to call off the strike. A meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Union Home Secretary. In this meeting held between the government and Transport Congress, it was decided that the law changed in Hint and Run will not be implemented yet. The government said that before the law, talks will be held with the Transport Congress. Only after this a decision will be taken on this.

At the same time, Transport Congress asked all truck drivers to return to work. It was also told in the meeting that 10 years' imprisonment and fine will not be applicable. The government said that before implementing Section 106 (2) of the Indian Judicial Code, the decision will be taken only after consultation with the All India Motor Transport Congress. We appeal to All India Motor Transport Congress and all truck drivers to return to their work.

Chaos in many states regarding new law

Let us tell you that there were protests in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir regarding the new law in hit and run case. Blockades and massive protests were seen in many states. During this strike of two-three days, the supply of many things came to a halt. A large crowd started gathering at petrol pumps. A large number of people had stood up to get petrol. The new law had a provision of a fine of Rs 10 lakh and a punishment of 7 years. Truck drivers say that this law is wrong and the government should withdraw it.

What is hit and run law?

In IPC, there is a provision of two years jail and fine in case of death in hit and run cases. In the Indian Judicial Code, the punishment has been increased to 10 years and fine. Due to this law, if there is an accident, there will be a punishment of 10 years and a fine of Rs 7 lakh. Hit and run means causing harm to a person or property due to rash and negligent driving and then running away. This will not be possible after this law is made.

Congress's Supriya Shrinet said that the hardworking truck drivers who deliver essential goods to every corner of the country are on strike against the new hit and run law. Due to this law, if they have an accident, they will be sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 7 lakh. He said that most of the truck drivers are poor, no one commits an accident on their own free will, sometimes someone else may also be at fault. They are all troubled by this law. This law was made forcibly after the suspension of 150 MPs.
