Bollywood Film / Karisma Kapoor and Nana Patekar starrer ‘Shakti The Power’ clocks 18 years; Karisma remembers her collaboration with producer Sridevi

News Helpline . Mumbai | Actor Karisma Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Shah Rukh Khan starrer action drama film ‘Shakti: The Power’ clocked 18 years on Sunday. On this occasion, film’s lead actress Karisma Kapoor remembered late veteran actress Sridevi who produced the film along with her husband Boney Kapoor.

Sharing the poster of ‘Shakti: The Power’ on her Instagram handle, Karisma wrote, “Shakti 🖤 I was honoured to work in my favourite actress #sridevi first production Sriji would encourage me and we would spend time between shots discussing my character on location 💕 it was a tough gruelling shoot but I have such wonderful memories of the the entire cast and crew #shaktithepower #specialmemories @sanjaykapoor2500 @nana.patekar @iamsrk @boney.kapoor @krishnavamsiofficial @nandureddyy.”

Released in the year 2002, ‘Shakti: The Power’ is directed by Krishna Vamsi and starring Karisma Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Sanjay Kapoor in leading roles, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepti Naval, Ritu Shivpuri and Prakash Raj in supporting roles while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan appeared in a special dance number.

The film is a remake of Telugu film ‘Anthapuram’ (1998), which was based on the real-life story of Betty Mahmoody. The original story of real life escape of Betty Mahmoody is depicted in the movie ‘Not Without My Daughter’ which itself was based on Betty Mahmoody's book of the same name.

It is considered to be one of Karisma Kapoor's best performances; both hers and Nana Patekar's acting was acclaimed by fans and critics and received several nominations at a number of award ceremonies. Despite this, commercially it did not perform well at the box-office.

Karisma Kapoor recently made her digital debut with ALT Balaji web series titled ‘Mentalhood’ which also starred Sanjay Suri, Sandhya Mridul, Shilpa Shukla and Shruti Seth.
