New Delhi : Madhulika Rawat, wife of General Bipin Rawat, was also aboard the Mi-17V5 that crashed in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. 13 people died in this accident. Bipin Rawat was on his way to deliver a lecture at the Defense Services Staff College, Wellington. His chopper crashed minutes before it could reach its destination.

Madhulika Rawat was the President of Army Wives Welfare Association and was actively involved in social services.

1. Madhulika Rawat, a resident of Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, was married to Bipin Rawat in 1986. He has two daughters. One lives in Mumbai and the other daughter lives with him.

2. Madhulika did her schooling from Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya in Gwalior and studied psychology from Delhi University.

3. When Bipin Rawat was a captain in the army, Madhulika married him.

4. Madhulika Rawat's family currently resides in the ancestral residence 'Rajabagh' located at Shahdol district headquarters.

5. His father Mrigendra Singh was the princely state of Sohagpur princely state of Shadol district. He was also a Congress MLA in 1967 and 1972.

6. Chhattisgarh minister TS Singhdeo said that Madhulika Rawat was a close family colleague and often visited Bhopal. The minister tweeted, "Mudulika ji, wife of Late General Bipin Rawat, was a close family colleague. She was the daughter of Late Shri Mrigendra Singh ji of Suhagpur (MP) and frequented Bhopal. 7. As a prominent functionary of the Army Wives Welfare Association, Madhulika Rawat was instrumental in many welfare programs for the widows of the Army.

Madhulika Rawat's brother Yashvardhan Singh said that he last met Bipin Rawat on the occasion of Dussehra in Delhi. During this Rawat had promised her that he would go to Madhulika's native village Shahdol and help set up a Sainik School.
