RCB vs KKR / Kolkata's huge win over Bengaluru - piled on 123 runs, won the match by 81 runs

RCB vs KKR: In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by a huge margin of 81 runs. Batting first after losing the toss at the Eden Gardens ground, KKR scored 204 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, RCB were all out by scoring 123 runs in 71.3 overs. In the first innings from Kolkata, Shardul Thakur played a game-changing inning of 68 runs off 29 balls. In the second innings, Varun Chakraborty took 4 wickets, Suyash Sharma 3 and Sunil Narine took 2 wickets and did not give RCB a chance to play freely.

Turning point of the match

1. Shardul's fiery innings

Kolkata Knight Riders lost 5 wickets for 89 runs in the first innings. Then Shardul Thakur, who came to bat, scored 68 runs in 29 balls. He shared a 103-run partnership with Rinku Singh to take the team past 200.

2. Spinners were game changers

Chasing the target of 205 runs, RCB scored 42 runs in 4 overs. But from here Varun Chakraborty and Sunil Narine dismissed 5 batsmen in just 17 runs. In the end Suyyash Sharma took 3 wickets to put RCB on the back foot.

3. Big innings didn't come

No one could play a big innings from RCB. Apart from the opening partnership of 44 runs, there was no major partnership in the match. The team kept losing wickets and could never come back in the second innings.

Naren-Varun took 5 wickets

Chasing the target of 205 runs, Bangalore got off to a brisk start by Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. Both added 42 runs in 4 overs. Then in the fifth over, Sunil Narine bowled Kohli. Varun Chakraborty was bowled in the sixth over.

No wicket fell in the seventh over, then in the eighth over, Varun bowled Glenn Maxwell and Harshal Patel. In the 9th over, Naren got Shahbaz Ahmed caught out. In this way, lost 5 wickets within 17 runs.

First: Fifth ball of the 5th over, Sunil Narine bowled fuller length. Vira Kohli got bowled on a personal score of 21 runs.

Second: The second ball of the sixth over was bowled by Varun Chakraborty fuller length on the off stump. Faf du Plessis gets bowled. He scored 23 runs.

Third: Varun bowled the second ball of the 8th over on a good length. Glenn Maxwell got bold on this. He scored 5 runs.

Fourth: The fourth ball of the 8th over, Varun bowled a good length on the off stump. Harshal Patel got bowled, he could not even open his account.

Fifth: Fifth ball of the 9th over, Sunil Narine bowled fuller length. Shahbaz Ahmed played a reverse sweep, but was caught by Shardul Thakur. He scored a run.

Sixth: The fourth ball of the 12th over was bowled by Shardul Thakur. Michael Bracewell played a pull shot but was caught by Nitish Rana at short fine leg.

Seventh: The third ball of the 13th over, Suyash Sharma threw a googly at the off stump. Anuj Rawat was caught by Sunil Narine at short third man.

Eighth: The second ball of the 13th over was bowled by Suyash Sharma fuller length. Dinesh Karthik went to hit hard but was caught by Varun Chakravarthy at short third man.

Lost 2 wickets in powerplay

Electing to bat first after losing the toss, Rahmanullah Gurbaj got Kolkata off to a brisk start. But in the fourth over, David Willey bowled Venkatesh Iyer and Mandeep Singh and broke Kolkata's back. Gurbaj hit big shots in the last over of the powerplay and took the team's score to 47 in 6 overs.

Mandeep created unwanted record

Mandeep Singh of KKR was bowled on zero for the 15th time in IPL. He has reached number one in the list of players who have been dismissed for the most number of times in the tournament. Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma are second in this list with 14-14 dismissals.

Gurbaj made fifty in 38 balls

Rahmanullah Gurbaz made his first fifty in 38 balls. He played big shots in the powerplay. Then after the fall of the initial wicket, took over the innings and completed his half-century. He was caught out after scoring 57 runs in 44 balls.

Karn Sharma sent Russell to the pavilion

Karn Sharma of Bengaluru got Rahmanullah Gurbaz caught out in the 12th over. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 57 runs. Then Andre Russell was also caught out on the very next ball.

Century partnership in Rinku-Shardul

Kolkata had lost 5 wickets at one time on the score of 89 runs. Then Shardul Thakur, who came to bat, played big shots. After completing Fifty in 20 balls, he shared a 103-run partnership with Rinku Singh in 47 balls. Rinku was caught out after scoring 46 runs and Shardul 68 runs.

Kolkata's Rahmanullah Gurbaz 57, Venkatesh Iyer 3, Mandeep Singh 0, Nitish Rana one and Andre Russell were dismissed for 0 runs. Umesh Yadav (6) and Sunil Narine (0) remained unbeaten. Karn Sharma and David Willey took 2-2 wickets from Bangalore. Whereas Mohammad Siraj and Harshal Patel got 1-1 success.

Fastest Fifty of IPL-2023

Shardul Thakur completed his fifty in 20 balls. He hit two consecutive sixes in Michael Bracewell's over and completed his fifty in the 17th over. This is the joint fastest fifty of this season of IPL. He equaled Jos Buttler of Rajasthan Royals. Butler completed Fifty in 20 balls against Hyderabad.

First: David Willey bowled the second ball of the fourth over in-swinging at a good length. Venkatesh Iyer got bold on this. He scored 3 runs off 7 balls.

Second: Third ball of the fourth over, David Willey bowled out swinging at fuller length. Mandeep Singh got bowled, he could not even open his account.

Third: Michael Bracewell bowled the first ball of the 7th over fuller length. Nitish Rana reverse sweeps, but the ball hits his gloves and goes into the hands of wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. Rana could score only one run.

Fourth: Karn Sharma bowled the third ball of the 12th over fuller length. Rahmanullah Gurbaz got out caught trying to play reverse sweep. He scored 57 runs.

Fifth: The fourth ball of the 12th over was thrown flighted by Karn Sharma at fuller length. Andre Russell played a big shot, but caught Virat Kohli at long on. Russell could not even open his account.

Sixth: Harshal Patel bowled a bouncer in the last ball of the 19th over. Rinku Singh gave the catch to wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. He scored 46 runs on 33 balls.

Seventh: The fourth ball of the 20th over was bowled by Mohammad Siraj. Shardul caught Glenn Maxwell on this. He scored 68 runs on 29 balls.

One change each in both teams

Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis has included David Willey in place of Injord Rees Topley. On the other hand, Kolkata replaced Anukul Roy with Suyash Sharma in the team. He will come to bowl in the second innings as an impact player.
