Changes have been made in the UP Legislative Council election schedule. Now the voting for these elections will be held on 9th April while the result will come on 12th April. Nominations for the election will be held on March 15.

Actually, questions were being raised about the timing of these elections. On the basis of the notification issued earlier, the voting for the Legislative Council elections was to be held on March 3 and 7 while the counting of votes was fixed on March 12, but now the schedule has been changed, after which the results of the assembly elections will come on March 10. Legislative council elections will be held.

On Saturday, the Central Election Commission has rejected the list of IAS officers sent by the state government to appoint observers in the elections to the local body authority areas of the UP Legislative Council. The commission has directed the state government to provide a new list of 50 officers. It is being told that the state government had sent a panel of officers to the commission on February 1.

Sources said the commission has rejected the state government's list. Commission Secretary Soumyajit Ghosh has written a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of the state in this regard, asking him to provide the second list of 50 senior IAS officers.

It has been said that those officers who are associated with the assembly elections should not be included in the list. If the number of senior IAS officers is less, then the names of senior most PCS officers can be included in case the number of officers is less.

Provided that they are not associated with the responsibility of assembly elections. The Chief Electoral Officer has sent this letter to the government.
