During interrogation, the accused told that he had a love affair with Manpreet, she was insisting on being with him. He also threatened to implicate him in a false case if he was not kept with him.

Tired of these relations, Nafees devised a plan to get rid of him. He took Manpreet in a truck on the pretext of leaving Kashipur. Both had food in Afzalgarh. In the cabin of the truck, Nafees made Manpreet drink beer and drank it himself. Manpreet and Nafees got into an argument while intoxicated. During this, he attacked Manpreet with an iron rod. After this, he was kicked and thrown down from the truck. To make the murder look like a road accident, Manpreet's body was repeatedly crushed with the wheel of a truck. The police team that arrested the accused included Inspector-in-Charge Manoj Kumar Singh, SSI Dinesh Kumar Sharma, SI Praveen Malik etc.

Manpreet was married to an acquaintance

Manpreet, who is living separately from her husband, met Nafees at a clothes shop in Kashipur in 2018. Nafees then exchanged the mobile number. After that both of them fell in love. Manpreet was constantly insisting on being with her. To avoid this, Nafees got Manpreet married a year ago to a man from Kaderabad, but after 10 days Manpreet had returned from there. Despite this, Nafees remained in constant touch with Manpreet. Even on the day of the incident, Nafees had brought him to Afzalgarh. Suddenly after talking on a phone at 10:00 in the night she insisted on returning to Kashipur.

Manpreet was very fond of daughter
