Maruti Grand Vitara CNG: Hyundai Creta is the best selling SUV in C-Cement. In this segment, Maruti Suzuki launched the Grand Vitara SUV in the month of September last. Maruti Suzuki was understanding that if it has to compete with Hyundai Creta in C-cement, then it will have to offer something different and new. For this, the Grand Vitara was introduced in mild hybrid as well as strong hybrid technology. With strong hybrid technology, it has become the most fuel efficient SUV in the country.

But, the catch was that the Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid (with 28KMPL mileage) starts at Rs 17.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 19.49 lakh for the top-spec variant, while the diesel variant of the segment-best-selling Creta costs Rs. 10.94 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 18.24 lakhs for the top variant. The Creta diesel mileage is close to 21KMPL, which may increase depending on the driving style.

In such a situation, the inclination of customers could have been towards Creta, which Maruti wants to do towards itself. For this, Maruti Suzuki played a new card and offered CNG kit in mild hybrid version of Grand Vitara. With this, Maruti brought the Grand Vitara with more mileage at a lower price in the market. Now in the C-segment, Maruti will be able to compete with the Creta in a more aggressive manner.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG has been brought in two variants - Delta (MT) and Zeta (MT). Its initial price has been kept at Rs 12.85 lakh, which goes up to Rs 14.84. Both the variants are powered by the next-gen K-series 1.5-litre, dual jet, dual VVT engine. Click here for its features and specifications.
