Jaipur / Mini bus and tampo collision in Khatushyamji; 8 killed, 12 seriously injured

Jaipur:  Eight people died in a face-to-face collision between a mini bus and a tempo at Khatushyamji in Sikar district of Rajasthan on Wednesday night. More than 20 people were injured in the accident. 12 people in critical condition were referred to Jaipur. Three deceased UP residents Sunil Kumar, Sudhir Goyal and Mahesh Kumar of Gurgaon have been identified in this accident. The police is trying to identify the other dead. The police are investigating what caused the mishap; however, didn’t rule out the possibility that the vehicles were overspeeding.

According to eyewitnesses, the collision was so severe that the roof of the tampo broke apart from the explosion. Many people in the tampo also had their hands and feet cut off. The front of the bus was damaged. The bus steering also went inside the driver seat.

The mishap occurred near Chomu Purohitan village on Reengus-Khatu Shyam Ji Road. The collision was so intense that both the vehicles were badly damaged. The local residents informed the police following which police teams were rushed to the spot. Local police and administration officials including DySP, SHOs of Reengus and Khatu Shyam Ji police station and SDM also arrived at the spot.

Seven people were killed on the spot. The bodies of three of them is being kept at the mortuary of a government hospital in Reengus, while the remaining bodies at a government hospital in Khatu Shyam Ji.

“About 12 people were injured in the road accident which was probably caused by overspeeding. The medial teams have been roped in to provide treatment to the injured victims. The rescue operation has completed. We are trying to identify the deceased,” a senior administration officer said.
