Rajasthan Local Body Polls: Kshatriya Community Demands EWS Reservation Expansion

Over 30,000 people gathered at the 'Eastern Rajasthan Kshatriya Mahasamagam' in Alwar to demand an increase in EWS reservation to 20%. Ahead of the local body elections, the community sought mandatory implementation of the quota in panchayat and municipal polls.

A massive convention titled 'Eastern Rajasthan Kshatriya Mahasamagam' was organized in Khedli, Alwar district, on Sunday, February 1, 2026. The event witnessed a turnout of over 30,000 members of the Kshatriya community representing 39 assembly constituencies across 10 districts. The gathering aimed to consolidate the community's social and political demands ahead of the upcoming Panchayati Raj and local body elections in Rajasthan. Prominent figures including Shakti Singh Bandikui, Meghraj Singh Royal, Retired IAS Rajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Brigadier Jitendra Singh addressed the assembly.

Demand for EWS Quota Expansion in Local Polls

The primary focus of the convention was the strengthening of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) reservation. Addressing the crowd, Shakti Singh Bandikui stated that the implementation of EWS reservation in the upcoming local body and panchayat elections is a non-negotiable demand. The community has formally requested the government to increase the EWS quota from the current 10% to 20%. On top of that, there was a strong call to simplify the EWS certification process at the central level to ensure that eligible candidates can access benefits without administrative hurdles.

Political Representation and Historical Integrity

The Mahasamagam emphasized the need for increased political representation for the Kshatriya community in Eastern Rajasthan. Leaders asserted that political parties must clarify their stance on EWS reservation and community participation before the elections. On top of that, the community demanded the enactment of strict laws against the distortion of Kshatriya history. The speakers highlighted that a revolution in education and employment is essential for the future of the youth, advocating for equal opportunities across all educational institutions without discrimination.

Protest March and Submission of Memorandum

Following the convention, thousands of participants conducted a foot march to the Khedli Sub-Tehsil office. The marchers raised slogans in support of social equality and reservation reforms. A memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister was submitted to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), outlining seven key demands. Chief guest Meghraj Singh Royal remarked that education and employment form the foundation of any society, and the community will continue to fight for its rights through democratic means to ensure long-term solutions.

Security Measures and Administrative Oversight

In light of the large gathering, the local administration deployed significant police forces from Khedli, Kathumar, Dhaulagarh, and Laxmangarh. Laxmangarh DSP Kailash Jindal and Khedli SHO Vijay Kumar Chandel monitored the situation to maintain law and order, while a symbolic gesture of showering flower petals from a helicopter was also organized to welcome the attendees. According to political analysts, this large-scale mobilization just before the local body elections indicates a strategic move by the community to influence the regional political landscape.
