Iran Israel Conflict: The ongoing military conflict between Iran and Israel has brought West Asia to the brink of war. Amidst this growing tension, the biggest concern is about the Indian students who are currently studying in Iran, especially the students of Jammu and Kashmir. More than 1300 Kashmiri students are currently pursuing education in various medical colleges and universities in Iran and now their lives are in serious danger.Frightened students, helpless parentsReports of Israeli air strikes and Iranian retaliatory missile attacks in many cities of Iran have created an atmosphere of fear among the students. The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this situation and appealed for immediate intervention. JKSA said that the students feel trapped in the middle of an active military zone, where air strike sirens, sounds of explosions and movement of military vehicles have become common.According to JKSA, many students are studying in institutions which are located close to sensitive military bases. This has increased their fear further. Two Kashmiri students were injured in an attack near the International Hostel of Tehran University of Medical Sciences last night. However, both are now said to be out of danger and are being shifted to a safe place.Atmosphere of mental stress and insecurityThe families of the students are extremely worried in India. Some parents said that their children are under tremendous mental pressure and are constantly surrounded by the fear of something untoward happening. Some students have shared incidents of the sound of sirens, explosions in nearby areas, and local people fleeing. The mother of a student told the media, "My daughter is in the third year. She is trying to stay safe, but now she is in complete shock. Local people are also packing their belongings and running away. No concrete information is being received from the embassy."Political appeal and expectations from the governmentRJD leader Manoj Jha has also expressed concern in this matter. He said that the Ministry of External Affairs should understand the seriousness of this situation and take immediate action. He expressed hope that the government will give top priority to the safety and evacuation of students and other Indian citizens. It is necessary to take timely stepsThe situation of Indian students, especially Kashmiri students, stranded due to the increasing conflict between Iran and Israel is worrying. They neither have adequate resources nor safe options. In such a situation, there is an appeal to the government to adopt a humanitarian approach and start rescue operations as soon as possible and bring these students safely to India.
