Asia Cup Trophy Vanishes from ACC Headquarters

Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the Asia Cup 2025 final held in Dubai on September 28th, securing the title, while however, even before the tournament began, India had made it clear that they wouldn't shake hands with any Pakistani player during matches, nor would they accept the trophy from the ACC President (who is also the PCB chief) if they won. This stance led to considerable drama during the post-match presentation ceremony,. And the trophy has yet to be handed over to Team India. The BCCI has taken a strong stand on Mohsin Naqvi's 'drama' and has decided to raise the issue at the upcoming ICC meeting next month. According to news agency ANI, Mohsin Naqvi has removed the Asia Cup trophy from the ACC headquarters and hidden it at an undisclosed location in Abu Dhabi. A source close to the matter stated that when a BCCI official inquired about the trophy at the ACC HQ a few days ago, the staff informed them that it had been removed and was now in Mohsin Naqvi's possession, kept at an unknown place in Abu Dhabi.

Naqvi's Conditions for Handover

Earlier this month, Mohsin Naqvi had set a condition for handing over the Asia Cup trophy to Team India, stating that the team should come to the ACC Headquarters and receive it from his hands, while Plus, according to several reports from an Asian Cricket Council meeting held at the end of September, Mohsin Naqvi had reportedly apologized for the incident during the presentation ceremony after the final match. However, Naqvi later denied these reports, further escalating the controversy.
