In IPL Phase-2, the second match of the day was played between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings on Tuesday. Mumbai had a target of 136 runs in the match, which the team achieved at the loss of four wickets in one over. In Mumbai's victory, Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 40 off 30 balls while batting brilliantly. Hardik hit a six to give Mumbai a 6-wicket win.

Bishnoi missed the hat-trick

In the fourth over, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi gave a big success to Punjab by dismissing Rohit Sharma (8) and Suryakumar Yadav for zero in two consecutive balls. Ravi had a great chance to score a hat-trick. However, he failed to do so.

De Kock got out by making a record

Mumbai's third wicket fell in the form of Quinton de Kock (27). He was bowled by Mohammed Shami and showed the way out of the field. Before getting out, Cock completed his 7000 runs in T20 cricket. AB de Villiers became the fourth player from South Africa to achieve this feat after Colin Ingram and David Miller.

Nathan Ellis got the fourth success for Punjab by dismissing Saurabh Tiwary (45).

Surya's form increased tension

Even against Punjab, Suryakumar Yadav's bat was silent. Ravi Bishnoi showed the way to the dressing room on a clean bowled by Ravi Bishnoi on the very first ball. In the last four innings, only 16 runs have been seen with his bat. Suryakumar Yadav's form has increased the tension for Mumbai Indians as well as Team India. The T20 World Cup is to be played on these grounds immediately after the IPL and in such a situation it is very important for Suryakumar to come in form before this tournament.

Wickets fell like a deck of cards

Kieron Pollard bowled brilliantly and broke Punjab's back by taking the wickets of Chris Gayle (1) and KL Rahul (21) in his very first over. With the wicket of Rahul, Pollard also completed his 300 wickets in T20 cricket.

Markram-Hooda took over Punjab's innings

Jasprit Bumrah also got the fourth success for Mumbai by dismissing Nicholas Pooran (2). However, for the 5th wicket, Aiden Markram and Deepak Hooda added 61 runs to get the team back. Rahul Chahar did the work of breaking this partnership and Markram was dismissed after scoring 42 runs off 29 balls. After Markram's wicket, Hooda also handed his wicket to Bumrah at (26). PBKS scored 135/6 in their 20 overs game.

Win is necessary for both teams

In this phase, Mumbai has lost three consecutive matches, while Punjab has got one win and one defeat in two matches. Both the teams have 8 points each and both are in a race to reach the playoffs. However, it will be difficult for the losing team in this match to stay in the competition, as after that all matches will be do or die for them.

If Mumbai loses, it will equal 6 year old record

Mumbai Indians have lost three matches in a row. If the team also gets a loss against Punjab, it will be the first time since 2015 that they will lose four matches in a row.
