New Delhi : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was on Tuesday given a half-hour break by the Enforcement Directorate at around 8 pm after a 10-hour interrogation in Delhi. After a break of half an hour, he has again returned to the ED office. The round of questions for the next round has started again. The Wayanad MP has been questioned for nearly 50 hours in five days so far. Rahul Gandhi was questioned for 10 hours on Monday also and for 30 hours last week from Monday to Wednesday.

ED questioned Rahul Gandhi for the fifth day on Tuesday in the National Herald money laundering case. On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi was questioned for about 10 hours. After half an hour's break, the questioning of Rahul Gandhi has started again. He has been questioned for nearly 50 hours in five days. During interrogation on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi was given half an hour's time for lunch break. On the other hand, party interim president Sonia Gandhi, who was discharged after corona treatment yesterday, has also been summoned by the ED, but has been given time till June 23 to appear.

Significantly, the ED is probing the role of the Gandhi family in the National Herald case. This includes Young India's acquisition of AJL (Associated Journals Limited), the company that runs the National Herald newspaper. The National Herald is the mouthpiece of the Congress. Which has since turned into an online-only outlet.

The ED alleges that Young India has acquired over Rs 800 crore in AJL's assets. The shareholders of Young India also include Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Though Congress has claimed that Young India is a non-profit organisation, the shareholders cannot make any money from its assets.
