NEET Paper Leak: Who Facilitated Dinesh Biwal's Entry Into BJP? Internal Questions Arise

The CBI's arrest of Dinesh Biwal in the NEET paper leak case has sparked a political storm in Rajasthan. While Biwal claims to be a BJP office-bearer, the party is distancing itself, leading to intense questioning from the Congress regarding his political patronage.

The investigation into the NEET paper leak case, which led to the cancellation of the examination held on 3 May, has taken a significant political turn. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is meticulously uncovering the layers of this scam, has identified several links, while however, the arrest of Dinesh Biwal from Jamwa Ramgarh, Jaipur, has become a focal point of intense curiosity and political debate. Biwal's journey from being a digital creator and property dealer to a self-proclaimed BJP leader is a story that has left many questioning his rapid rise and the nature of his political affiliations.

The Rise of Dinesh Biwal

Dinesh Biwal has become more prominent in the last 2 weeks than he ever was during his tenure as a purported party worker. On 18 April, he posted a cryptic message on his social media page stating that in this world, only time belongs to us; if time is right, everyone is yours, otherwise no one is. This post has now gained retrospective significance following his arrest. Biwal has identified himself in various capacities over the years, including as a digital creator, a BJP leader, an office-bearer, and a property dealer, while his changing lifestyle in the village has been a topic of local discussion, with many initially assuming his wealth came from the real estate business.

The Controversy Over BJP Membership

The primary question haunting the political corridors of Jaipur is: who facilitated Biwal's entry into the BJP? While Biwal's social media is filled with posters and hoardings where he claims to be a district official of the BJP, the party's leadership is now distancing itself from him, while some reports suggest he was a District Secretary in the main organizational body of Jaipur Rural BJP, while others claim he held a similar position in the Yuva Morcha (Youth Wing). The ambiguity remains whether his entry was a direct 'wild card' entry or if he rose through the ranks of the youth wing.

Denials from Party Leadership

Current and former leaders of the BJP in Jaipur Rural have offered conflicting or dismissive accounts of Biwal's role, while shankar Gaura, the current state president of BJYM, has not yet made appointments in his team for the Jaipur Rural district. His predecessor, Ankit Chechi, also made limited appointments. Going further back, former district presidents Amit Sharma and Balram Doon have both denied giving Biwal any official responsibility or inviting him to meetings during their tenures, while however, Balram Doon admitted that when he became the BJYM District President for Jaipur Rural in 2011, Biwal was part of the preceding team as a State Secretary. Doon noted that he had included Mahendrapal Meena in his team at that time, who is now an MLA and is frequently seen in photographs with Biwal.

The MLA's Defense and Social Media Evidence

MLA Mahendrapal Meena, when questioned about his numerous photographs with Biwal, stated that as a public representative, many people take pictures with him. Despite this, reports suggest that Biwal received various opportunities and positions based on recommendations from influential leaders, including former MLA Jagdish Meena and current MLA Mahendrapal Meena. Biwal's social media profiles are a testament to these connections, featuring frequent photos with Meena and exchange of greetings on various occasions. Biwal often used these platforms to wish BJP leaders on their birthdays, consistently identifying himself as a party leader.

Congress Launches a Scathing Attack

The opposition Congress party has seized this opportunity to corner the BJP. PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra and Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully have demanded to know why the BJP has not officially dismissed Biwal if he was indeed a party official. Tika Ram Jully pointed out that under the current central government, the number of paper leak cases is nearing the 100 mark. He criticized the BJP for downplaying the photographs, stating that while one or two photos could be accidental, Biwal is seen with 8 to 10 different BJP leaders in various advertisements and hoardings. Jully questioned whether the government is trying to protect the 'big crocodiles' involved in the scam.

BJP's Official Stance

In response to these allegations, BJP State President Madan Rathore has reiterated that Dinesh Biwal isn't a worker of their party, while rathore countered the Congress's arguments by stating that if photographs were the sole basis for establishing criminal links, then no Congress leader would be exempt, as many have been photographed with criminals in the past. As the CBI continues its probe, the mystery of Dinesh Biwal's political patronage remains a heated topic in Rajasthan politics.
