Asaduddin Owaisi / Owaisi got angry at PAK Army Chief, called Munir a 'street man', know what else he said

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi called Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir's nuclear threat reprehensible and called him a 'street man'. Owaisi advocated increasing the defense budget. India retaliated by saying that it will not succumb to nuclear blackmail and will protect national security.

Asaduddin Owaisi: Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has launched a scathing attack on Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir. Owaisi termed Munir's nuclear threats as "reprehensible" and called him a "street man". This statement came in response to the provocative statements made by the Pakistani Army Chief against India, in which he threatened a nuclear attack.

Munir's threat and Owaisi's response

Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir recently threatened India with a nuclear attack at the retirement ceremony of outgoing Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) General Michael Kurilla in Tampa, Florida, USA. Munir said, "We are a nuclear-armed nation. If Pakistan sinks, it will sink half the world with it." He also claimed that Pakistan would not allow India to build dams on the Indus river and would destroy India's dams with "10 missiles" if needed. Munir further said that Pakistan would launch an attack from the eastern parts of India, where India has established its "most valuable resources", and then move towards the west.

In response, Owaisi said, "The words of the Pakistan Army Chief and his threats are reprehensible. It is unfortunate that all this is happening in the US, which is India's strategic partner." Describing Munir's language as "street-like", he said that India is facing a constant threat from the Pakistani army and their deep state. Owaisi stressed that India should increase the defense budget to strengthen its defense preparedness.

India's official response

India also took a tough stand on this provocative statement of Pakistan. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "It is Pakistan's old habit to flaunt nuclear weapons. The international community can draw its own conclusions from such irresponsible comments." He also said that such statements raise serious questions on the integrity of nuclear command and control in a country where the army is in cahoots with terrorist groups. India made it clear that it will not succumb to nuclear blackmail and will take all necessary steps for national security.

Context of India-Pakistan tensions

There is a long history of tension between India and Pakistan, and the Indus Waters Treaty is a sensitive issue between the two countries. Munir's claim to destroy the dams is being seen as a threat to violate this treaty. India has always abided by this treaty, but repeated provocative statements from Pakistan continue to pose a threat to regional stability.
