Bilawal Bhutto Zardari: The delegation led by Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Washington DC faced a sharp rebuke in the US. Senior US lawmaker Brad Sherman told the Pakistani representatives in clear words that Pakistan will have to take tough steps against the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed and ensure the safety of religious minorities living in the country. This meeting took place at a time when the all-party delegation from India after the Pahalgam terror attack has apprised the US of India's tough stand on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.Sherman's sharp statement: Demand for the elimination of Jaish and terrorismBrad Sherman made it clear in his statement on X (formerly Twitter) that he demanded from the Pakistani representatives to end the "hateful" terrorist organization like Jaish-e-Mohammed. He reminded that this terrorist organization was involved in the murder of Daniel Pearl, a Wall Street Journal journalist from his constituency in 2002. He said, "Pearl's family still lives in my district and Pakistan should make every effort to eliminate this barbaric organization."Concern over the condition of religious minoritiesNot just terrorism, Sherman also raised questions on the rights of Christians, Hindus and Ahmadiya Muslims in Pakistan. He stressed that these communities should get full right to follow their religion and participate in democratic processes without fear and discrimination.Appeal for the release of Dr. Shakeel AfridiOn this occasion, Brad Sherman also strongly demanded the release of Dr. Shakeel Afridi. Afridi is the same doctor who helped America in capturing Osama bin Laden. Afridi had helped the CIA in collecting bin Laden's DNA through the polio vaccination program. He was sentenced to 33 years in prison by a Pakistani court in 2012. Sherman called it injustice to the victims of 9/11 and said that "Afridi's release will be an important signal for America."Bilawal's warning: Sharp attack on India over waterDuring the talks, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari openly threatened India and even expressed the fear of nuclear war over the issue of water. He said, "No country will remain silent if its water and future is endangered. If India stops supplying water to Pakistan, this situation can lead to nuclear war." Bilawal's statement reflects Pakistan's diplomatic discomfort on the global stage.
