PM Modi Independence Day Speech: Major Announcements for Youth, Women, and Defense Sector

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a comprehensive 75 minute speech on the occasion of Independence Day from the ramparts of the Red Fort. During his address, the Prime Minister made several significant announcements aimed at the youth, women, and farmers, outlining a roadmap for a developed India. He emphasized that the journey towards a 'Viksit Bharat' would primarily benefit the younger generation and highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring that resources don't become a hindrance to their dreams.

Free Online Coaching for Competitive Exams

Addressing the concerns of middle-class and poor families, Prime Minister Modi announced a major initiative to provide free online coaching for various competitive examinations. He noted that the competition for coaching classes has become a significant financial burden for middle-class families. Many parents feel a sense of pressure to send their children to coaching centers, fearing they might otherwise fall behind. To alleviate this burden and save thousands of crores of rupees for these families, the government has decided to benefit from India's strong Digital Public Infrastructure, while by bringing together talented teachers and educators, a nationwide network will be created to provide free coaching, allowing students to stay close to their families and receive quality education without additional economic stress.

AI Training for One Crore Youth

In a move to make India a global hub for innovation, the Prime Minister announced that the central government will provide AI training to 1 crore youth within a year. He identified technology and innovation as the third strength of the 'Saptadhara' (seven streams of power), while highlighting the current era of Robotics, AI, Quantum Technology, Space, and Data Centers, PM Modi stated that India must lead in next-generation communication technology. 5 lakh startups, and the government has announced a fund of 1 lakh crore rupees to further boost innovation. He urged the youth to bring their dreams forward, promising that the government would ensure resources are available to support them.

Appeal for Women's Reservation

Prime Minister Modi made a passionate appeal to all political parties to support and implement the 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies. Standing under the tricolor, he urged political leaders to become champions of women's empowerment. He emphasized that giving women their due representation in policy-making is the need of the hour. He stated that parties could take the credit for this move, but it's essential to ensure that mothers and sisters receive their rights and contribute to the nation's policy framework as soon as possible.

Lakhpati Didi Target Increased

The Prime Minister shared the success of the 'Lakhpati Didi' scheme, which aims to empower rural women to earn at least 1 lakh rupees annually. He announced that the initial target of creating 3 crore Lakhpati Didis has already been surpassed. Consequently, the government has now set a new, more ambitious target of creating 6 crore Lakhpati Didis. This initiative is seen as a symbol of a major transformation in the rural economy driven by the strength of women.

The Call for Saptadhara

On the 80th Independence Day, PM Modi invoked the 'Saptadhara' or the seven streams of power that will drive India's growth. These include Manufacturing Power, Agriculture and Food Processing, Technology and Innovation, Gati Shakti (Infrastructure), Defense Power, Green Economy and Blue Economy, and Soft Power. These pillars are intended to strengthen India's global standing and internal capabilities.

Self-Reliance in Nuclear Energy and Blue Economy

The Prime Minister outlined a vision for self-reliance in nuclear energy, setting a target of 100 GW capacity by 2047. He announced that 5 new nuclear reactors would be started within the next 6 to 7 years. On top of that, he addressed the 'poverty of thought' that previously restricted India's maritime exploration. He revealed that 99 percent of India's sea areas were previously designated as 'No-Go Areas'. The government has now converted these into 'Go-Ahead Areas', actively searching for new reserves under the sea to reduce dependence on crude oil imports.

Defense Manufacturing and Semiconductor Hub

India is aiming to become a global hub for defense manufacturing, with a focus on advanced technologies like hypersonic systems and drones. PM Modi shared impressive statistics: in the last 12 years, defense production has increased 4 times, electronic manufacturing 7 times, railway coach production 21 times, and mobile phone production 33 times. Also, the Prime Minister announced that while 3 semiconductor plants are currently under work, the government expects about 8 semiconductor plants to be operational in the next 7 to 8 years. This is crucial for energy security and the growing needs of AI and data centers.

Internal Security and Sports

Regarding internal security, PM Modi stated that Maoist extremism is taking its last breaths in the country, while he paid tribute to the more than 3500 personnel of the police and security forces who sacrificed their lives over four decades of Naxal violence. He called for the identification and isolation of 'ideological Naxals' who have ruined the futures of millions of youth. In the field of sports, the Prime Minister announced a nationwide talent hunt for children aged 5 to 15 years to prepare for the 2036 Olympics, for which India is a strong contender. He also highlighted the success of the TOPS scheme and the growth of medical education, noting that medical seats have doubled and the number of medical colleges has increased from 400 to 850 since 2014, along with the establishment of 650 new universities.
