PM Modi To Launch Development Projects Worth Over 35000 Crore In Gujarat And Maharashtra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat and Maharashtra on Tuesday to launch a series of transformative development projects. The Prime Minister's itinerary begins in Vadodara around 12 PM, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various development initiatives valued at more than 35,000 crore. During this event, he will also address a public gathering, highlighting the government's commitment to infrastructure and economic growth.

Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) Milestone

A significant portion of the visit focuses on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). Prime Minister Modi will dedicate three crucial sections of the WDFC to the nation, covering a total of 326 route kilometers. These sections, developed at a cost of over 20,700 crore, include the New Sanand (N)-New Makarpura, New Umargam-New Saphale, and New Saphale-New JNPT sections. Officials have emphasized that the direct connectivity to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) will facilitate the faster movement of EXIM cargo, strengthen the link between industrial centers and ports, and Importantly reduce logistics costs. On top of that, this development is expected to decongest the existing railway network in Mumbai, while with these sections becoming operational, the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) network will be fully functional across its entire length, enhancing the country's logistics ecosystem by improving multimodal connectivity and reducing transit times.

Expansion of Rail and Road Infrastructure

In addition to the freight corridor, the Prime Minister will flag off freight train services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umargam, and New JNPT in Mumbai, while he will also introduce a new passenger train service between Tanda Road and Vadodara (Pratapnagar). Another key highlight is the dedication of the Jobat-Tanda Road new rail line, developed as part of the Chhota Udepur-Dhar project. This new line is set to connect the remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur to the national rail network. Plus, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for three railway projects spanning 329 kilometers with an investment of over 9,700 crore. These include the Vadodara-Ratlam third and fourth lines, the Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar gauge conversion, and the Vishwamitri-Dabhoi doubling project, while these initiatives are designed to increase passenger and freight capacity while strengthening connectivity between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

National Highway and State Projects

The Prime Minister's visit also includes laying the foundation stone for three National Highway projects worth approximately 1,780 crore. These projects involve the six-laning of the Kamrej-Chalthan section of NH-48, the construction of major bridges over the Tapi and Narmada rivers on the Vadodara-Surat section of NH-48, and the development of grade-separated structures at Abhva, Mindhola, and Khajod junctions on NH-53. Also, he will oversee Gujarat state government projects worth about 2,600 crore. Key projects include the foundation stone for the Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) Ring Road Phase II, a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam, and the construction of a new office for the Vadodara Municipal Corporation. He will also inaugurate housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and a water supply project for 11 villages in eastern Vadodara.

Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai

Later in the evening, at approximately 5:45 PM, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Mumbai to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026. This event is recognized as one of the world's largest and most influential annual fintech conferences. The seventh edition of the Global Fintech Fest is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, September 8, to Friday, September 11. Since its inception in 2020, the GFF has evolved into an international thought leadership platform. It brings together policymakers, regulators, central banks, financial institutions, fintech companies, technology firms, investors, and academia to deliberate on the future of finance and shape the global financial landscape.
