Raghav Chadha Quits AAP for BJP: Navjot Kaur Sidhu Claims Priyanka Chopra's Influence

Raghav Chadha has resigned from AAP after 14 years to join the BJP. Navjot Kaur Sidhu claimed that Chadha remains protected from Arvind Kejriwal's criticism due to actress Priyanka Chopra's alleged intervention with PM Modi.

Raghav Chadha has officially resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after a tenure of nearly 14 years and has decided to advance his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). While his departure was anticipated, the formal announcement was made on April 24. Amidst this transition, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who has formed her own political party in Punjab, issued a significant statement involving actress Priyanka Chopra.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu's Allegations

Addressing the media, Navjot Kaur Sidhu claimed that Arvind Kejriwal has been unable to speak openly against Raghav Chadha because of Priyanka Chopra's intervention, while sidhu alleged that Priyanka Chopra recently spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to Chadha as her "brother-in-law" and requesting him to look into the matter. According to Sidhu, Chadha is only "safe" because of Priyanka Chopra, otherwise, Kejriwal would have spoken out against him much earlier.

Past Support from Priyanka Chopra

This isn't the first time Priyanka Chopra has shown support for Chadha. When AAP removed him from the position of Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, the actress expressed her solidarity, while following his removal, Chadha shared a video on social media highlighting public interest issues he raised in Parliament, such as the gap between education and employment, 'One Nation-One Medical Treatment', labor indexation, and the demand for Bharat Ratna for Bhagat Singh. Priyanka Chopra responded to this video with clapping and supportive emojis, which was seen as a sign of her backing.

Merger with BJP and Other MPs

During a press conference in New Delhi on Friday, Raghav Chadha announced that two-thirds of AAP's Rajya Sabha MPs have decided to merge with the BJP under constitutional provisions. He stated that this collective decision was made to use the provisions of the Constitution of India. Along with Chadha, other Rajya Sabha MPs, including Sandeep Pathak and Ashok मित्तल (Mittal), also announced their departure from AAP to join the BJP.

The move by Raghav Chadha and other prominent MPs marks a significant shift in the political landscape. By invoking constitutional provisions for a two-thirds merger, the departing members have initiated a formal transition into the BJP, leaving the Aam Aadmi Party facing a substantial reduction in its Rajya Sabha strength.
