New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi's accusations that dissenters in the party are conspiring with the Bharatiya Janata Party has drawn a sharp comeback from many senior leaders who have hit back at the former party president for his remarks at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting.

Supporting the veteran Congress leaders in their anger after the bombshell remark, suspended leader Sanjay Jha took a dig at Rahul Gandhi by essentially saying that the accusation was completely absurd.

In a tweet, Sanjay Jha said if Congress leaders are conspiring with the saffron party, "Boris Johnson is a fairness cream". He said, "Dear Rahul Ji, If we are colluding with the BJP, then Boris Johnson is a fairness cream."

After Rahul Gandhi accused the dissenters in the Congress of "colluding with the BJP", senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, also one of the signatories of a letter to Sonia Gandhi, said he will quit the party if allegations are found true.

Kapil Sibal also made a furious three-point comeback at Rahul Gandhi in a tweet over his "colluding with BJP" remarks at the CWC meeting.

In a tweet, Kapil Sibal said, "Rahul Gandhi says we are colluding with the BJP. Succeeded in Rajasthan High Court defending the Congress Party Defending party in Manipur to bring down BJP Govt. Last 30 years have never made a statement in favour of BJP on any issue. Yet “we are colluding with the BJP! (sic)"

Kapil Sibal later deleted the tweet, saying Rahul Gandhi informed him that he never made the remarks that are being attributed to him.

"Was informed by Rahul Gandhi personally that he never said what was attributed to him. I therefore withdraw my tweet," Kapil Sibal tweeted.
