Assam Exit Poll: BJP Predicted to Sweep, Congress Trails in Projections

Exit polls for the Assam Assembly elections suggest a strong comeback for the BJP-led alliance. According to MATRIZE and AXIS MY INDIA, the ruling coalition is expected to secure a comfortable majority in the 126-member assembly.

The voting process for the Assam Assembly elections has concluded, and the focus has now shifted to the exit poll results released on April 29. The Election Commission conducted voting for all 126 assembly seats in a single phase on April 9.96 percent participated in the democratic process. The primary contest in the state is between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party. While the official results are scheduled to be announced on May 4, the exit polls provide an early indication of the possible outcome.

MATRIZE Exit Poll Projections

According to the data released by the MATRIZE exit poll, the BJP is likely to form the government in Assam once again. The projections suggest that the BJP-led alliance (BJP+) could secure between 85 and 95 seats. In contrast, the Congress-led alliance is expected to win 25 to 32 seats. Other parties and independent candidates are projected to capture between 6 and 12 seats. These figures indicate a substantial lead for the ruling coalition, placing them well above the majority mark.

Vote Share and Gender-wise Trends

The Congress alliance, on the other hand, is projected to secure between 24 and 36 seats. Both major exit polls align in their prediction of a comfortable majority for the BJP, suggesting a continuation of the current administration's tenure in the state.

The exit poll results have set the stage for the final counting day on May 4.50 crore voters will only be confirmed when the Election Commission officially declares the outcome. 96 percent reflects the intense engagement of the electorate in this crucial assembly election.
